That case study example is brilliant. I really struggle with case studies for leadership. I always feel it’s the team that ultimately has done the work I’ve just pointed them in a direction. I may be biased because most of my career’s focus has been on visual, branding and motion design, which are easier to build a portfolio around, but I think portfolios are crucial whether you’re an IC or leader.
Clearly, my experiences in UX design leadership have proven more difficult to represent in a portfolio setting given how regularly the work changes and how many hands it all goes through.
But even then, it’s worth an effort, especially when you hope to inspire a team that you’re new to. Sharing past experiences and processes in a public way that everyone can openly digest makes you and your experiences more relatable.
