The bit about asking candidates to work on old company problems are concerning.
How are companies trying to reduce the bias that comes from having a lot more knowledge (of the context as well as the outcome of the solutions) and judging the candidate's output based on that rather than their thinking?
I understand your thoughts. I think majority of companies are aware of the lack of context people will have, but still want to see someone walk through the problem space. I'm sure there are occasions where people who do not know how to interview people properly will have a lot of bias, but that's why interviewing is a skill
